Work and Energy Theorem

Physics Project

Definition

The Work-Energy Theorem states that the total work done on an object is equal to the change in its kinetic energy.

Formula

W = ΔK = ½mv² - ½mu²

Example

For a car of mass 1000 kg accelerating from rest to 20 m/s:
W = ½ × 1000 × (20² - 0²) = 200,000 J

Conclusion

The theorem explains how work and energy are related in any moving system.
